McQueen reigns at Paris Fashion Week

Fashion is lovely but Alexander McQueen is divine. His collections continuously proved to be inspirational, endlessly imaginative and stunning divine. I could not get enough of his fall collection drenched in the season must-have black and bright rich Indian fabrics with regal Indian shapes. When I hear that the story behind the collection was about a girl who lived in a tree and became a Indian princess--I fell in love. It became less about fashion and incredible tailoring, and more into a part of conceptual art.

This collection titled 'Nature V. Man' is a stunning visual experience with a social conscious environment of stuffed animals, a reminder that if the abuse continues more and more animals face extinction. Very timing considering recent news about African elephants and many other mammals dwindling in population. Other influences include Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and the industrial revolution. It was exciting to see all the colors, manic prints and jeweled fabrics used, after many Spring shows went for more muted shades. The silhouettes were extravagantly structured as per McQueen's usual, yet what was refreshing is that he was one of few to create beautiful, hourglass shapes. Women want to look good and have a shape. This is definately achieved in this collection.

Using many natural fibres, including leather, silk jacquard, satin organza, jersey and transparent tulle, McQueen garments were versatile yet wearable and one of the most universally appealing.
Side note: I totally dig the bunny suit McQueen wears to close the show. Also all the models hair was styled similar to Keria Knightly on the cover of September's Vogue. I don't think it will translate....but I call it 'wet head.'
